Singer, songwriter, tour manager, producer, promoter, Nyabinghi chanter, and percussionist.
Ras Lawi is a dynamic Roots Reggae chanter hailing from the vibrant lands of Hanover, Jamaica. Over the years, he has made his mark on the music scene in various capacities—as a singer, songwriter, tour manager, producer, promoter, Nyabinghi chanter, and percussionist.
At the age of 17, Ras Lawi left Jamaica to join his parents in Birmingham. Shortly after, he moved to London to live with his Rasta uncle, Nyah, a respected community leader in Tottenham. There, he connected with his Rasta cousins, who were also musicians, and together they formed Circle 7, where he played bass guitar. When the band eventually parted ways, Ras Lawi saw the perfect opportunity to embark on his solo journey.
His debut single, "Flexibility," was produced by Michael Dan and released under the High Destiny label. Capitalising on his wide range of skills, Ras Lawi co-founded Nazarite Promotions with business partner Iyata, a prominent radio presenter. This venture opened doors for him to collaborate with iconic artists such as Junior "One Blood" Reid, Mykal Rose, The Itals, Ras Ites, Alpha Rowen, IQULAH, Natty, and many more.
Ras Lawi's notable performances include electrifying sets at the Jamaican Independence Concert at IndigO2, Junior Reid's Friday Night Live in the City in Kingston, Jamaica, Hootenanny, Brixton, Summer Jam Festival, Reggae na Piaskach, hosting Nyabinghi workshops at Reggae Geel, and performing alongside Giddeon Family Band. He has also appeared at Reggae Jam '24 and City Splash '24 with IQULAH, playing percussion.
"Gimme fi mi Pie" is the first track to be released from Ras Lawi’s highly anticipated debut album, "I Walk," slated for release in 2025. This is just one of many powerful chants we can expect from Ras Lawi as he continues to make his voice heard on the global Reggae scene.
