Kosher was born in the UK and raised in Jamaica in a Rasta family, where her love for music was nurtured from an early age. Her father, a percussionist for her godfather Justin Hinds, and her mother, who filled their home with the enchanting melodies and powerful lyrics of artists like Ijahman Levi, Black Uhuru and Prince, were instrumental in shaping her musical foundation. Kosher pays homage to these inspirations by crafting music that serves as a guide through life’s journey.
A woman of many talents, Kosher captivates audiences not only with her smooth, sultry voice but also with her musical versatility, having learned to play the saxophone and trumpet while at boarding school. Her official entry into the music industry began with her debut release, “Pressure,” in 2015 under UNIT 137. Originally a jungle track, “Pressure” was later remixed into a reggae version, which propelled her on a three-year tour across Europe.
After returning from the tour, Kosher continued to write and release new music, including “Priestess and the Warrior,” produced by Sleepytime Ghost, followed by the collaborative track “Nah Join,” featuring Gold, Jimmy Screech, and Jago. She then focused on creating a cohesive body of work, culminating in the release of her project, “Time is the Master,” a collaboration with producer Sleepytime Ghost.
Beyond her performances, Kosher is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists. With over a decade of experience teaching songwriting at the Young Urban Artist Foundation (YUAF), founded by Kerry O’Brien OBE, she currently teaches at the Music Midi Foundation and conducted a writing workshop at the Bob Marley Museum in 2023. Empowering young talent is a passion she pursues actively, always seeking new opportunities to share her knowledge and support aspiring artists.
Since the release of “Pressure,” Kosher has graced the stages of prestigious events and venues, including Boomtown Festival, Shambala, SW4, Grace Jones’ Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre, and Somerset House. In 2025, she will once again bring her messages of love, peace, and gratitude to audiences around the world, continuing to inspire and connect through her music.
